Who Needs a Life Coach when you can have a desk Calendar?

I flipped over my desk calendar today and saw this.....

Yikes!!!   My desk calendar can read my mind!

It was exactly what I had been thinking about!.  Wow!  Who needs a Life Coach when you can have a desk calendar??  (Don't answer that question or I might be out of a job)  :)

Anyway, the need to keep on keeping on making small but significant choices or  changes about what I do (or do not do) on a daily basis was my focus for this week.

Like most of us I would prefer instant pain-free achievement however both my life experience and my study tell me that success requires daily thoughtful and purposeful choices or changes that move us towards our goals.

One of my favorite sayings is “Success comes with a few small disciplines practiced daily” J. Rohn

We currently have some renovations underway at our home and as I observed the bricklayers working I noticed the consistent care and thought that went into the placement each brick in just the right place to create a stunning curved wall.

The choices we make each day are just like those bricks.

One brick laid correctly at a time builds a wall.

One small, positive choice or change at a time builds success in our lives!

Go to it and build a wall of success in your life that you will be so proud of!

Enforced Celebrations

Enforced Celebrations

It was Fathers Day last Sunday and I have to say I often feel a bit resentful about “enforced” celebrations.

However, when the day came it was really wonderful because it made us take time out to celebrate and appreciate our family.

I’m not sure if it was “The Cake of Happiness" that I made for my husband and my Dad, the kids coming over and cooking a delicious lunch for us or the fact that I got to tell my 84 year old Dad how much I love and appreciate him one more time.

Whatever it was, I am so glad that we all made the effort to come together to celebrate.   It was such a happy, happy day!

The famous "Cake of Happiness" (because you can't take a bite without feeling soooo happy)!

"It's Just Not Fair!"

One of the easiest things to do in life is to blame either something or someone else for your current situation.

I am sure that at some point in your life, like all of us, you have found yourself feeling angry or frustrated thinking that “its just not fair...”

Well, whatever it was it probably wasn’t fair. However in the end, it doesn’t really matter because it is in the past and we cannot change that.

Once you can come to terms with this you have two choices:

A.    Stay stuck in your anger and wallow around in self pity (this might feel good for a little while but after that it’s downhill allllllll the way) ;)

B.    Have the courage to choose to take full responsibility for where you are now and what you want to change.

Hopefully you will choose option b) because believe me, life is way too precious to allow your past to limit your future!

Are you Insane??

Albert Einstein defines Insanity as “doing the same thing over & over again and expecting a different result”

So when you notice that you are repeating the same frustrating actions, responses or habits each day whilst wistfully hoping for a different outcome it is time to say “Whoa Nelly! Stop right there!  Something has got to change”!

And guess what…that “something” is YOU!

Now don’t panic. Not many of us like to change because it can be painful and it usually takes time as well as a determined effort.  However the reward can be priceless.

Once you decide to invest in your personal development, start to grow, learn and change the way you think and act you will be amazed at the things you can achieve and how your life will change.

Go on, jump up, grab that “remote” and make the Choice to Change!

Enough is Enough

The days and weeks of 2014 are quietly slipping past and before you know it another year will have flown by.   Will you look back on the year and be able to see the changes and progress you have made?

If not, it's time to say to yourself "enough is enough"  I am going to stop spinning my wheels, and take  some action!"

In his book Focal Point, Brian Tracey says that achievement in any area of your life starts with the following:

  • Desire to want to change  -  Ask yourself "what difference will it make, what will it mean for me?"

  • Decision -   "When will you start, What's the first step?"

  • Discipline  -  Self discipline is like a muscle, the more you use it the stronger it gets.

  • Determination - Dont get discouraged if you dont get instant results.  Keep plugging away and don't give up.

Whatever your goal or dream is, make progress towards it today by doing something.  It may be a big step or it might just be researching, reading a book or talking to a person.  It doesn't matter, whatever you do will take you one step closer and will encourage and inspire you to keep going and keep growing!

Time Spent on Yourself is Never Wasted!

As we journey through a wild and wet winter B inspired to take some "time out" for yourself.

It is amazing how refreshing it is to take a break from your normal routine.

Last weekend I went away to Mandurah for a Retreat with 9 other gorgeous girls.  It took quite a lot of effort to make it happen but it was so worthwhile.

Getting away from your normal routine and environment gives you the opportunity to rest and get a clearer perspective on your life.

It doesn't have to be long, even an escape with a cup of tea to a quiet corner or a few hours on your own can be wonderful.

There is a saying "time spent on yourself is never wasted" so go on, seize the moment and plan some time out to rest, recharge and recalibrate!

Progress not Perfection

I don’t know about you but in the past,I have set myself ridiculously unrealistic goals.

I start with a flurry of enthusiasm that might last a week or two at the most, only to then give up and feel like an absolute failure.

Having learnt the hard way, I now try to be a little more realistic with my goal setting whilst still pushing myself out of my comfort zone.

Looking back, I realize that even though I didn’t achieve my early goals all was not lost.  I did achieve something.  I made some progress towards my goal.  I became stronger and gained ground in that area.

Now, rather than focus on being perfect at achieving my target, I focus on the progress I am making.

I congratulate myself on what I have achieved which encourages me to keep going and keep trying because what matters most is the progress I make, not the perfection I achieve!

I am currently making "progress" towards my goal of writing a blog each week.  Yayyy!

What are you making progress on?
